In the Champions League, this round was full of action, and to anyone who said that the group stages were going to be boring, so far I am entertained. Probably the most unexpected result was AC Milan beating Real Madrid 3-2, Pato had said before last week's Serie A game against Roma, "If I score now, nothing will stop me." Pato decided that game scoring the goal that helped seal the 2-1 comeback. Against Real Madrid, he scored two important goals that provided AC Milan a crucial victory they needed. Liverpool who needed a result against Lyon lost 2-1 thanks to a late goal by Delgado, the reds needed a victory and will look to win their next game against Lyon in France. Italian Champions Inter Milan continue to disappoint drawing 2-2 against Dinamo Kyiv, Lucio's own goal did not help, while Stankovic scored another important goal for the club. Fiorentina went away to Debrecen and were able to overcome with a splendid 4-3 victory, Mutu scored twice with Gilardino and Santana scoring the other two goals. Atletico Madrid continue their poor form losing 4-0 to Chelsea, while Bordeaux triumph over Bayern Munchen 2-1.

In the Europa League Italian teams thrive with late goals, Roma tying 1-1 against Fulham with a late goal by Andreolli, and Lazio finishing off Villareal 2-1 with a last minute goal from Rocchi, the other Italian team in the cup, Genoa, were defeated 3-0 by Lille, adding to the 5-0 loss during the weekend against Inter Milan. Everton are demolished by Benfica, a match which ended 5-0 thanks to two goals from ex-Real Madrid player Saviola. Celtic are beaten 1-0 at home by Hamburger SV, showing that this round in Europe, the small teams have thrived.

Sorry for the late and minimal coverage, Comment on this week's action below!
