Quote of the Week: Alan Ball

This week's QOTW is random and has nothing to do with current football events, but it helps understand football, and what is needed to succeed.

"I'm not a believer in luck, but I do believe you need it"
-Alan Ball

Just a small quote to entertain you during this week of International action, expect a full wrap up on the qualifyers soon.

Quote of the Week: Fabio Capello

This week's QOTW is Fabio Capello talking about his first training session with the England Squad, the Italian manager has guided England to qualification, and he will most probably guide them through South Africa 2010.
"I remember the first training session and I was surprised because the players were really good,"
- Fabio Capello

A bit of humor for this week's QOTW, Capello was very surprised because he thought that because England didn't make it the the 2008 Euro's, the players would not be of high quality. Let's see what Capello can do with these high quality players, and if he can guide them through a succesful SA 2010 World Cup.

Quote of the Week: Sir Alex Ferguson

This week's QOTW is a very controversial quote by Sir Alex Ferguson, head honcho at Manchester United. After a 2-2 draw Sir Alex Ferguson commented on the fitness levels of the referee Alan Wiley, here is his quote so you can see what the scottish boss said about Alan Wiley.
"He just wasn't fit enough for a game of that standard," Ferguson said. "The fitness of the players, the pace of the game demanded a referee who was fit. He took 30 seconds to book a player, I think he's taking a rest writing down names on his card."
- Sir Alex Ferguson

What do you think about Sir Alex's comments? Should this be allowed? Should Fergie be fined for these comments? Comment below!

Quote of the Week: Roy Keane and USA Team News

This week's Quote of the Week comes with some bad news; Charlie Davies, USA International striker, was in a car accident  and received serious injuries. While this news is bad, there is worse, he was in the car with two other people, one of which died. Ashley J. Roberta, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, the only details on the third person, who was also the driver, are it is a female. Charlie Davies has received multiple injuries, and after around three hours of surgery, it is clear that he will not play in the 2010 World Cup. A diagnosis states that it will be 6-12 months before he is fit, this is a great loss for the USA national team, but it is also sad that a young woman lost her life.

Here is this weeks Quote of the Week,

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.
Roy Keane

Roy Keane, current coach of Ipswich said this very short and simple phrase which explains football preparation well.

Quote of the Week: Phil Woosman

This Quote of the Week is by Welsh soccer player and manager, Phil Woosnam, who explained the rules of soccer in one sentence, uniquely and originally.

The rules of soccer are very simple, basically it is this: if it moves, kick it. If it doesn't move, kick it until it does.

-Phil Woosnam

Although maybe he doesn't express all of the rules, he captures the spirit of soccer with this quote.

Quote of the week: Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho recently left a comment on him saying Eto'o is the best striker in the world, the year before, he said the same about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, now at Barcelona,
"Eto'o is the best attacker in the world," ... "My players are always better. Last year Ibrahimovic was the best forward in the world, now I say Eto'o"
Jose Mourinho

Is this Mourinho being arrogant, or could he be thinking to sept 16th when Inter Milan play Barcelona in the Champions League?
